Geovannie Johnson is a Young Artist. Geovannie was born in the United States, but they moved to The Marshall Islands when she was around 3 years old.

As a child and teen, I was an avid gamer and cartoon lover, and they influenced my style tremendously. I enjoyed creating Original Characters (OC) for some of my favorite shows and games. In school, I drew my friends as crime-fighting vigilantes and gave them birthday pieces as gifts. I’ve also participated in art-related workshops and exhibitions since then and have always thrived in those environments.

Other than art, I’m an alumnus of the College of the Marshall Islands and a project officer for the GIZ Low Carbon Sea Transport Project Team situated in the RMI. When I’m not at work, I’m hanging out with my loved ones or playing games.

Despite being an adult now, I still have that childlike excitement when it comes to doing art. I wouldn’t consider myself an expert, but I will be one day.

Geovannie will be part of the Jo- Jikum expedition in The Marshall Islands. Read more about the Jo-Jikum project here.
