Jobod Silk
National Climate Youth Representative
Role:
- Expedition Team
Jobod Silk is a National Climate Representative working with the non-profit Jo-Jikum under the deep dive project. Jobod works closely with RMI youth in community consultations on climate change, as well as other projects including climate change, climate advocacy and youth leadership.
"I have a passion for working with Marshallese youth, learning from each other about climate change and different ways we can work together to address and combat the issue and secure a safe and comfortable future for our generation and the ones to come after. As a National Climate Youth Representative for the RMI, I have the opportunity to not only work with the youth, but also to represent them in the climate space. One way that I have found easy for me to relay a message is through song. Sometimes it's hard to express myself, so why stutter, when there's an entire song somewhere that sums up what I am trying to say. Thus my interest in being a part of the expedition. Not only can I represent Marshallese youth in this voyage I'm sure I will learn a lot from, I get to also bring back the knowledge learned and put it on the table for all the other youth to learn as well, and what better way to do that than through art?"
Jobod Silk will be part of the Jo- Jikum expedition in The Marshall Islands. Read more about the Jo-Jikum project here.
